light

the vintage lampshade over our dining table was squashed on a shoot (one of the hazards of using our house as a location). And ever since, I have been looking for a replacement. I think I have found it, this beautiful paper origami shade from Snowpuppe in the Netherlands. I will be going for the extra large size available in their etsy shop.

discount for christmas

First, I want to thank everyone for such supportive and incredibly useful comments on my last post. With your help and the help of my lovely neighbour who is French and a lawyer I will be sending letters/emails to Monoprix today and I will be very interested in their response.

Meanwhile, winter has arrived and we are almost snowed-in here in leafy southeast london, this is the view from my studio. However, I am still making it to the post office even if I have to sledge! So orders will still be posted. I have discovered how to do discount codes, so to help my blogfriends with their Christmas shopping I have introduced special discounts in my shops till Christmas. In my online shop until 24th December I  am offering a 10% discount in conjunction with BabyStyleFile which is a very useful shopping guide for design loving parents, just add the code BABYSTYLE when you purchase. And for a 10% discount in my Etsy shop until 21st December just add CHRISTMAS10 in the coupon code box when you checkout. Hope it works!

it's on it's way

Christmas is around the corner and I have managed not to mention it up till now (apart from subtle mention of turkey in my last post) But I am now stocking my shops with a few affordable items for Christmas shopping. Starting with some festive stockings and a new pomegranate tree shopping bag all for £12.00 and under, bargain! Available now in my etsy and online shop .

24.9.10

in good company

Every now and then roddy&ginger is featured in an etsy treasury and today one of my cushions was in a very lovely one called the bold and the beautiful alongside lots of my favourites all chosen by monda. So I just wanted to say thank-you.

15.9.10

cosy cushions

I have just put my new pomegranate tree cushions into both my uk online shop and my etsy shop. They are printed on natural linen in grey with ochre yellow, red or teal. I will also be stocking them in white linen soon.

16.6.10

2 cushions in one

I have just put these daisy bird cushions into my etsy shop. Two cushions in one! pink or teal bird on one side and lemony lime daisy pattern on the reverse.

26.5.10

grownup aprons

The children's aprons sold really well at my open studios and lots of people asked if I could do an adult size, so I have. They are printed in blue and chocolate or pink and red onto white cotton drill and are available now in my etsy shop. Here they are being modelled by my kitchen cabinet and the lovely Lucy.

9.3.10

new cushions

I have been busy stitching and photographing and have just put some new cushions into my Etsy shop, they will be appearing on my website soon. Two colourways at the moment, teal and olive both on white or natural linen. My collection of Ercol furniture always comes in handy as props for my photographs, it's lightness and elegance provides the perfect backdrop.

16.2.10

the nautical look is back!

Finally some new designs! This well dressed mermaid is the first of a few that I have been working on. These cushions are printed onto natural or unbleached white linen. They are for sale in my Etsy shop for now, updating my website is more complicated! I'll also be making this into a 400x500mm print.

13.1.10

folkdance

More snow today so I spent the morning printing up some Folkdance cushion panels. The design is inspired by the traditional art of Polish paper cutting. There was a lovely exhibition of paper cuts at our local museum last year and I took a one day course run by an amazing Polish lady who used sheep shears to cut the most intricate designs, I ended up with a lot of tiny snips of paper and blisters on my thumbs, will stick to printing I think. The cushions are available from my website or my Etsy shop.

cooking is fun

These children's aprons are beautifully made by lovely ladies in a small factory in Lancashire and hand printed by us. I have just put them in my Etsy shop - they would make very cute Christmas presents. More nostalgia, I dug out my old 'My learn to Cook book' for this photo shoot, love the 'roobarb and custard' style illustrations.

15.11.09

new cushion

I found this pretty vintage fabric at our local flea market this week, it's called Toccata designed in the 50's by Robert Tierney for David Whitehead. Its a lovely soft palette of greys, yellow, pink and pale blue and a bit faded around the edges. There's enough make a few cushions backed in grey linen which I am trying out in my etsy shop

7.10.09

crazy peacock

I haven't seen a peacock in our back garden yet, but there is one just down the road. He lives in the grounds of a once grand but now rundown house and is rather lonely so often escapes to roam the streets looking in vain for a peahen. He provided inspiration for this print which I have just added to my Etsy shop.

8.9.09

happy find

Back home again, and here's something very english. I was cheered up by these vintage programmes waiting for me in the post box. I found them at stevensstuff on etsy and fell for the lovely flat colours and joyous illustrations.
