My twiggy shelves are leading a glamorous life of their own and have popped up in this months Elle Deco (how? I don't know!) I remember puzzled amusement from family and friends when I brought these hand crafted rustic shelves home from the junk shop - ha!

hunting for shelves

Fixed shelves in our house are a bit of a problem as they would have to be dismantled when we have photo shoots. Meanwhile, books are piling up on the floor and I have to stop myself from going into charity shops in case I buy more stuff (this is really hard!) So I am on the look out for a movable set. These step ladder shelves, spotted on darling clementine would be perfect. I think Ikea once did a set in paintable wood but I haven't seen them there for a while. I have tracked some down at Marks & Spencer but they look a bit chunky. twiggy shelves

I found these shelves at our local junk emporium, they were painted a sinister black so I repainted them a spooky white. They are very ecologically made from bits of tree and a couple of old planks. A bit of foraging in the woods and a few nails and you could have some too! I can now waste hours of time arranging suitable displays.
