My heart skipped a beat when I found this battered and much loved copy of I can fly on a vintage stall. I must have had it as a tiny child as every illustration was instantly familiar. I was very pleased with myself to have found it until I looked on
abe books and discovered that it is still in print and yours for only 62p!
Ah I love this book. Maisie has it too...same copy...and i just bought another for a friend’s new baby. Lucky find! Have a nice weekend :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book! My husband still has a bunch of his childhood books and we love reading them to our toddler.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind but I have awarded your blog the Leibster Award (see http://helloolive.blogspot.com/)
Thanks, Col@HelloOlive
Oh you are lucky! The new printing isn't exactly the same and has many fewer pages. Great find! x
ReplyDeleteYes! I had that as a child too! Gorgeous illustrations. I love that sense of familiarity - a weird collapse of time kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book. I haven't seen this before, as we don't have it in Norway, - so I'm happy you posted it. It's lovely. And even though it's still for sale - your old copy is a bargain. Then you can enjoy both the pictures and the tactile book. :) sweet, sweet, sweet
ReplyDeleteI have this beautiful book, I'm a massive fan of Mary Blair's work she was an amazing Disney illustrator, fab find!
ReplyDeleteOoh lucky you - Ru has the new edition which just isn't the same. And I had one of those moments in our local library recently upon discovering an Old MacDonalds Farm book - the illustrations were so familiar then my Mum said it was one of my favourites for years!
