need more cupboards

All deliveries arrive at once, cardboard boxes everywhere. Big cupboard sort out required urgently

jobs half done

I am surrounded by jobs half done. On top of orders and two freelance design jobs I am re-upholstering our scratchy brown sofas with this grey linen found for £5.00 per metre in Brixton market (joy!), cushions ok but not sure how to tackle the rest, painting this old Habitat standard lamp white and rewiring with trendy coloured cable, trying to deal with fabric scraps and mis-prints in my studio, painting this old trolly white, painting everything white really, then photographing them rather than getting on with things, this is not good!

spring clean

Inspired by the scent of spring in the air and the happy find of a ready made-up Alex plans chest in the bargain corner of Ikea, I set about sorting out my studio this week. Scruffy cardboard boxes and yoghurt cartons are banned. Screen printing inks now in storage jars from Poundstretcher (£5.00 for 3, bargain!) postcards and pigments into Ikea kitchen drawer boxes, squeegees into Ikea washing up bowl, pencils into mugs from the poundshop, hippo rubber from Tiger and vintage sketchbook from Spain.

Some pictures of our open studio. It was a cold wet weekend but we put on a cheerful face and visitors trickled in! Hoping for better weather for this weekend so we can get the bunting out and maybe have tea on our miniature lawn. It's all happening again from 11.00am to 6.00pm this Saturday and Sunday. my studio

I have been very busy with orders so here's where I am spending a lot of time at the moment. I am lucky to have the whole of the basement in our house as my studio, this is it looking fairly tidy. My sewing machine gave up on me so my ancient Singer has been called into action. I have had it since I was a teenager and it probably belonged to my granny before me. What an amazingly robust piece of machinery! I haven't used it for 10 years but it still sews the best straight stitch, if it stitched backwards as well I would use it all the time.
