open studio day 1

First day of open studio over and it was a hot one, but all cool here and I had a good day!

The lovely watercolour sketch of my messy sink is by Liz Watkins who is making a sketchbook diary of the open studio venues.

Open studio - 6th-7th July as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival. If you can find my details on their website you are cleverer than me but you can download the venue broadsheet here or contact me for details. Open from 11am to 5pm and there will be buckets of bargains!

smalltown is here

I have just put my new Smalltown and Townplanning cushions into my shop. Both designs are handprinted onto smooth white linen with a charcoal grey reverse. Smalltown available in trendy black, pink, yellow and mint. Townplanning in black/pink, black/yellow and black/mint.

And here's a chance to win one of the first cushions off the production line, check out littlegreenshed where Lou has hosted a little interview and celebratory giveaway with me on her lovely blog!

This weekend 6th-7th July I will be having an open studio event here as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival. If you can find my details on their website you are cleverer than me but you can download the venue broadsheet here or contact me for details. Open from 11am to 5pm and there will be bargains!

rock on

It's the second weekend of open studio and I found time this week between drawing lions and designing puddings to make a new screen inspired by my mid-century rocking horse. This one is a little more plump and is sporting a fine Welsh blanket. I will see how it goes over this weekend it should appear in my shop next week.

We are open today from 11am to 6pm details on the Open House website we are number 157 on the venue map.

open studio 2012

I came home the other day to a massive estate agents sign outside our house. Hello, I thought, are we for sale? No, it's advertising our open studio for the next two weekends. We will be open on 12th/13th May and 19th/20th May from 11am to 6pm. Wallpaper, cushions, prints, tea towels, seconds and samples to buy all at special open studio prices. All information on the Open House website where you can also find us on a map (we are no. 157, on the fringe near the woods)

There are a lot of artists and designers showing their work over the two weekends so I think it's well worth the trip to leafy Southeast London. The sad thing is that I am on duty here so I can't get out to visit any other studios. But if I could, here is where I would go this year:
Sally Nencini
Lubna Chowdhary
Bainbridge Studios
Museum of Colour
Chocolate Creative
Charlene Mullen
Schneider
Kay Vincent

Lots more here.

end of a long day

I printed these log pile tea towels yesterday for my open studio today. It has been a busy, busy day playing at shopkeeper and meeting lots of really nice people. I now need to raid my cupboards to replenish my vintage table.

Open again on Sunday 11-6.00, details are on the Dulwich festival website along with listings of other events and artists. Or email me for information if you can't find it on the website.

say cheese

There's no mistaking the contents of these 70's TG Green storage jars and it's good to know I will never loose the cheese again! The splendid cheese dish was smiling at me in a seaside charity shop along with a pretty Midwinter soup bowl and a stack of folksy plates. The plates will be for sale at my open studios event this weekend (14th-15th May) along with prints and textiles and some other bits of vintage that I can bear to part with!

Details of the open studio events are on the Dulwich festival website along with listings of other events and artists. Or email me for information if you can't find it on the website.

open house 2011

It's open studio time! Once again I will be taking part in the Dulwich Festival Artists Open House event and opening my home studio just for the second weekend, that's the 14th and 15th May. I will be selling prints and textiles, seconds and mishaps and a few vintage bit and pieces, a bit of a jumble sale really! It would be great to see anyone who can make it to deepest southeast London. Details are on the festival website along with listings of other events and artists. Or email me for information if you can't find it on the website.

roddy&ginger's open studio

Some pictures of our open studio. It was a cold wet weekend but we put on a cheerful face and visitors trickled in! Hoping for better weather for this weekend so we can get the bunting out and maybe have tea on our miniature lawn. It's all happening again from 11.00am to 6.00pm this Saturday and Sunday. Details on the Dulwich Festival website

7.5.10

open house

It's going to be a busy weekend, I have been getting things together for our open studio event happening this weekend and the next. Prints, products, mishaps and samples for sale. I haven't been very efficient about spreading the word so if you are in the Dulwich area please come!! The details are on the festival website click on Open House for a guide, we are entry no. 134. The downside of running it for two weekends is that I won't be able to get out and see other studios. If I could I would make for Sally Nencini (no.56) my sister Clare Youngs (no. 115) Schneider (no. 100) and Havelock Mews (no.127) for a fine selection of local talent.

more fun with paper

We had a lot of fun with the giant origami at Kids.Modern (the flapping bird was made by a lovely little Japanese boy and rather put our bunnies and boats to shame!) We had some sheets left over so I am experimenting with diy patchwork wallpaper. I love printing onto paper - no baking or stitching required. I will be printing up sets of nine squares ready for our Open House event in May to see how they sell. Open House is part of our local Dulwich Festival and we will be opening up our studio on the weekends of 8/9th and 15/16th of May. More details on their website.

open studio

Back in May this year we had our first open studio weekend (actually this is our kitchen, the studio is downstairs). We had a great time and met lots of lovely people, so a big thank-you to all who came.
