in my shops

City windows cushion in black now in my etsy and online shops.

The white chair is a new junk shop purchase, it's an old school chair painted matt white and very sturdy. There were eight available but as I have an embarrassing amount of vintage chairs I just bought the one, and on a strict one in one out basis I now have to choose a chair to go. I might get rid of an old deckchair from the garden, or is that cheating?

3 good reasons

I have been told that I have too many chairs so I need a really good reason to buy another one. When I spotted this 50s plywood chair in a local junk shop I had to have it because:
a. I love its old school shape b. someone has taken the time to glue an old OS map to it and c. on closer inspection the map is of the part of South Wales where my husband was born and brought up. Good enough reasons I think!

mid-century chair

There was plenty to see at the Midcentury Modern Show and not too many crowds this year, maybe because there is going to be a second show in north London in May. My favourite stands upstairs among the contemporary designers were lovely printed textiles from Maria Hatling and Eleanor Prichards' beautiful wool blankets woven in Wales. And it was really nice to catch up with Sally Nencini who was selling her knitted wares. I came away with a 60's Danish office chair in a very sunny shade of yellow. My office is in a very dark corner so it really cheers it up. I may make a cushion pad out of this vintage fabric.

lovely chair

I do have quite a thing about chairs and this is my favourite at the moment, my sister and I bought a pair of these beautifully made Dutch chairs at our local junk emporium, one each. My daughter thinks it belongs in an old people's home so we dress it accordingly, with a cosy rug, vintage head scarf and happy birds cushion - knitting bag close at hand. I was quite pleased to see a pair of these chairs at the Mid-Century Modern show at three times what we paid for them - a comfy investment!
